Nic says his dad lived the past 60 years having people tell him what to do every day and now that he's more or less retired, doesn't know how to spend his time.

Patrick Tse, 85, has lived his life in the spotlight. After making his showbiz debut at the age of 17 in the 1953 movie The Stormy Night, he would go on to become one of Asian cinema's most popular idols in the '60s and '70s.
He's also a pop culture icon known for his epic romance with former screen siren Deborah Li, his dalliances with much younger women and for never taking off his trademark sunglasses.
Patrick, who is affectionately known as 'Fourth Brother', is now far less active in showbiz — he has been acting for close to seven decades, after all — though life as a semi-retiree has brought about problems of its own.

Patrick throughout the years
His son Nicholas Tse, 41, revealed on a recent episode of variety show Yin Wei Shi Peng You Ya that Patrick tells him on a daily basis that he’s so lost without someone telling him what to do that he feels like he’s “waiting to die”.
Nic explained, “It’s essentially because he doesn’t know how to manage his life. He’s lived the past 60 years with people always telling him what to do — things like ‘shoot this show today’ or ‘go on stage today’. Now that he’s on his own, he doesn’t know what to do and doesn’t know how he should spend his day. All that he knows is [what to do in front of] the bright lights and cameras.”

We hope Patrick gets used to his freedom soon
Charlene Choi, who was also a guest on the episode, shared that Patrick is doing better these days ‘cos his friends are spending more time with him.
She said, “[Patrick] is a really nice person, which is why he has a bunch of good friends. I’ve met up with him when I was in Hongkong and would go for meals with his friends too. They often organise activities and ask him along, and he’s pretty happy when that happens.”
