John was a retired BankIV trust officer and in retirement did private investment counseling. John 97, retired Assembly of God minister, passed away Monday, 3, 2003 1 p.m. at the Maranatha Worship Center, 888 S. Webb, Wichita, KS. Rev. De Vasher was born on a farm near Warrensburg, MO on Jan.

13, 1906. He was the second of five boys. He lived in Parsons, KS, Kansas City and Los Angeles, CA before establishing permanent residence in Wichita in 1949. While living in Los Angeles he attended and graduated from Bible School in 1940. After moving to Wichita he founded the South Seneca Assembly of God Church and the first service was in June 1955.

After retiring as a full time pastor he served as Visitation pastor at the First Assembly of God now known as Maranatha Worship Center. In 1998, he received special recognition for 50 years of dedicated ministry with the Assemblies of God organization. Other than his church work, he enjoyed his family, traveling, gardening and working on automobiles. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clova; granddaughter, Deena Ortiz and grandson, Larry Stover. He is survived by his wife, Cleda; his daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Karl Krausse of Wichita; two stepdaughters, Peggy Dick and Merle Shoemaker of Derby, and Jones of Wichita; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, El and Jeanne Giltner of Independence, KS, Daryl and Patty Giltner of Ft.

She and her family were members of the Church of God in Independence, where she met and married Donald G. James of Independence on Sept. 10, 1933. During their 34 year marriage, they resided in Independence, KS, Blackwell, OK and Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She was proud to be a homemaker and a business woman, helping her husband operate various meat markets in Independence and Wichita. She loved to make and dress prcelian dolls, quilts and various handcrafts. She was a member of The Daughters of the Nile and attended Glenn Park Christian Church, while living in Wichita. She leaves legacy of love and precious memories to her family, which was most important to her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita. Fred was born on July 21, 1912 south of Fall River, Kansas to Theodore and Nancy Almeadie (Caughey) Book.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. On November 29, 1957, he married Lilly Mae Carpenter at Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home in Wichita where Fred was employed as a sewage plant operator for the City of Wichita until his retirement in 1974. Mae preceded him in death on April 15, 1980. On January 12, 1981, he married Dorothy Katherine (Hileman) Force at Miami, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; his parents; his brothers, Theodore, John, Hobart and Cleo and his sisters, Lena Royer, Florence Downs, Della Callihan, Stella Ghramm, Hazel Ghramm, Agnes Shea, Opal Johnson, Anna Book and Gladys Book. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Fontella Fife of Fredonia; a brother, Lester Book of Prescott, Arizona and two grandchildren.
